French Jew Armel Touboul views the tomb of her grandfather in the Jewish Cemetery of Tlemcen 26 May 2005. More than 130 Algerian-born French Jews of Tlemcen returned Sunday to their country of origin on their first group visit since their expulsion at the end of the war of independence more than 40 years ago. Some 300,000 Jews fled Algeria in 1962 with the expulsion of French colonialists. Jewish Pied-Noirs have been making more frequent personal return visits recently, but this was the first time a large group had been allowed into the country.
